Pro Stock Triple Crown Opener Headlines Dai Restore Night on Saturday at Seekonk; Fast Friday Season to Kick-off on Friday

SEEKONK, Mass. — The stars of Seekonk Speedway’s Pro Stock division are set to open round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series this Saturday night, June 5, with a 60-lap feature event to headline DAI Restore night at the track.

After a week off for the Memorial Day holiday, all four of Seekonk’s NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions are back on the track. Throughout four events, David Darling (Pro Stocks), Vinny Arrenegado (Late Models), Chad Baxter (Sportsman) and Barry Shaw (Sport Trucks) hold championship leads in their respective divisions — while three of them have been the dominant force.

One night prior, on Friday, June 5, Seekonk’s Fast Friday drivers will take the first green flag of their season — with the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero’s, Sport 4’s, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, and Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars all set for action. The Fast Friday program includes a mix of youth, rising stars, and veteran drivers, and will thrill fans for just $10 in just general admission.

Championship defenses begin and new stars will emerge as part of the Fast Friday season. Names like Mike LeFort (Sport 4) will be looking to carry the checkered flag in the start of their title defense, while Greg Perry and Danny Massa will begin their championship quest as two of the favorites in a new era, with a new tire, for the Pure Stocks. Look for rising stars like Collin Vanasse and Richie Helger Jr. to compete in the Bandolero classes, while Brenden LaBelle moves from Bandolero’s into a competitive Legends Cars to compete against the likes of Jake Johnson, Luke LeBrun, Josh Parsons and more.

On Saturday’s, Darling, Baxter, and Shaw all have feature wins in three of the first four events. Darling, chasing his elusive eighth championship, is no stranger to winning success. Last time on the track, he spun in the second half of the race, went to the rear, and drove back to victory using the outside lane. His expertise and experience in extra-distance events is also impressive — and he should be listed as the favorite heading into Saturday. But, names like rising star Ryan Kuhn, Dylan Estrella, Rick Martin, Ryan Vanasse, and Ryan Lineham will all be looking for their first wins of the season. Mike Brightman, who led most of the last feature race, also looks for a bit of redemption in the 60-lapper.

Baxter has been the class of the field in the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman — but will a week off give his competitors a chance to catch up to the RLS Performance No. 0? Baxter started deep in the field on May 22 and drove through to victory, proving he can get the job done no matter where he starts. Names like Ed Perry, Craig Pianka, Corey Fanning, and Joe Kohler have also found early-season success behind the wheel. The Sportsman are set for a 25-lap feature race this week.

Barry Shaw has also been the class of the field in his division — the Seekonk Sport Trucks — taking a new Everett’s Auto Parts ride to victory lane. He was defeated once — by multiple-time track champion Rick Martin — who earned his 96th career Seekonk win. Martin returns to the Sport Trucks to try and take Shaw off the top once again, with names like Amy Arsenault, Mike Cavallaro, Brittany Campbell, Lenny Guy, and more also expected to contend for the win in the 25-lap feature.

Arrenegado may have just one victory in the Late Models, but becoming the master of consistency early finds him two points up on Gerry DeGasparre Jr. Similar to Darling, DeGasparre is chasing his eighth title this year — and is coming off a big win in the most recent 45-lap Phil’s Propane opener for the Late Models. Josh Hedges, who has top-five finishes in all but one race, Is third in the standings, followed by Chase Belcher and Mark Hudson. Look for week two winner and defending champion Tommy Adams to try and redeem himself in Saturday’s 30-lap event.

Fast Friday grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the first green flag set for 7 p.m. Adults are just $10 in general admission, with any children ages 12 and under free in the stands.

On Saturday night, grandstand gates open at 4 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 6 p.m. Tickets are just $15 for adults, with children ages 6-12 set at $5, and those 5 and under free if purchased at the track.
