Woody Pitkat Finishes 9th in Twisted Tea Open Modified 80 at Stafford Motor Speedway
STAFFORD, Conn. — Driving the Twisted Tea No. 6 in the Twisted Tea Open Modified 80 at Stafford Motor Speedway, Woody Pitkat and the Stan Mertz Racing team put together a solid effort with a ninth-place finish on Friday, June 11.
Pitkat started the day with two successful practice sessions and finished fifth in his qualifying heat race. Before the feature, Pitkat attended an autograph session, where he joined fans of his home track to meet and greet with those in attendance. During the feature, the Twisted Tea machine ran consistently around the top-10 and finished a solid ninth in the 27-car starting field.
“We’re still just trying to figure out the new motor package and what the car likes and how we can get the car where I like it for the long run,” Pitkat said. “We just need it to be a little bit more stable and consistent during the race. All in all, it was a good run. Everyone was great and the day went well. It was cool to be back at the home track, the enthusiasm and seeing everyone trying to get back to normal was good to see.”
Pitkat and the team will have only about two weeks off before returning to Modified action on Wednesday, June 30, with the Tri Track Open Modified Series at Seekonk Speedway for the annual $10,000 to win, Speed51.TV Modified Madness.
