Entry Lists Grow for Rusty Harpe Memorial

Solid Fields Expected for Late Models and SMART Modifieds

(Sophia, NC):  The entry lists for the “Rusty Harpe Memorial” presented by Daggett Shuler Attorneys, continues to grow as we approach the July 3rd event.

The Late Model division entry list includes the numbers one and two in Caraway point standings.   Blaise Brinkley leads Blake Bledsoe by only 26 points as we approach the mid-point of the 2021 season in a two-man chase for the track title.  While that twosome battles for season-long honors, several drivers with Caraway Speedway experience populate the entry list.  Other entries include 2020 Caraway Late Model Champion, Coy Beard and 2021 winner Ross “Boo Boo” Dalton, Dylan Ward, Heath Causey and Matt Goode.  Other confirmed entries include Chase Murphy, Rusty Daniels, Janson Marchbanks in a Hedgecock Racing entry, Justin Hicks, Jimmy Wallace and “Tiger” Tommy Neal.  Track Officials expect more entries over the next couple of days.

The first full season for the “new” SMART Modified Tour kicked off at Caraway in March with Matt Hirschman edging Burt Myers for the win.  After four 2021 events, John Smith leads Myers by a scant two points and Jason Myers by only six as they head into the “Rusty Harpe Memorial” this Saturday night.  Fourth place in standing is held down by Bobby Labonte who will be competing in Tony Stewart’s SRX Series this week.  Brian Loftin, driver of the “Shady Grady Racing” Modified, ranks fifth and will be on hand along with Dennis Holdren, two-time Southern Modified Champ, Jeremy Gerstner, Daniel Yates, James Civali and Gary Putnam.  Other confirmed entries include Jon Kievman, Darin Redmon, Mike Norman, Jimmy Wallace, Brian Weber, Joey Coulter and Caleb Heady in the potent 7NY owned by Tommy Baldwin.  That list is sure to grow by race day.

Zoo City Auto Sales has added $500.00 to the 602 Modified purse if there are ten or more cars entered.  Lee Jeffreys, Rich Hunter and Kevin Orlando head the list of 602 Modified competitors.  Others expected include James Civali, Jody Utt, Joe Fleenor and Junior Snow with others expected to move the total to ten or more.

Brandon Collins and Johnny Baker head the list of Mini Stocks expected for their 25 lapper Saturday night.

Trackside gates open at 3:00 PM and grandstands open at 5:00 PM.  Qualifying begins at 6:00 PM and an on-track autograph session is set for 7:00 PM.  Racing action is slated for an 8:00 PM start.
