Seekonk Speedway Independence Day Thrill Show Presented by Mega Disposal Moved to July 10; NASCAR Saturday Program for July 10 Cancelled

SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway officials announced on Friday that the Independence Day Thrill Show presented by MEGA Disposal has been postponed to Saturday, July 10, due to a forecast for inclement weather on the upcoming holiday weekend. All tickets purchased for the show will be honored on July 10 and additional tickets will also be available at the gate on race day.

This means the NASCAR Saturday events scheduled for July 10 have been cancelled. The Pro Stock Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series race has been moved to Saturday, July 17, and the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Power 5 race will also be held on Saturday, July 17. Both events will remain at the normal lap distance for each division, as Seekonk Speedway is not currently running extra-distance races due to the ongoing global tire shortage. The events from July 10 being cancelled will also allow teams, and the track, to save tires for later in the season.

“We feel that this was in the best interest of everyone involved due to the forecast for rain,” Ed St. Germain, Seekonk’s Director of Business Development, said. “We are happy to make an early decision on this event to give our teams and fans a chance to celebrate their Independence Day weekend with their friends and family inside to stay dry. We look forward to seeing everyone next weekend and thank our NASCAR teams and fans for their understanding.”

The Fast Friday events scheduled for Friday, July 9, will run on as scheduled.

The Independence Day Thrill Show will begin with gates opening at 2:30 p.m., and the first green flag of the night dropping at 5 p.m. The show will include the Troy City Tactical Spectator Drags, then Car & Truck Enduros, Figure 8 Races, a Power Puff Race and a MEGA Disposal sponsored Fireworks show that will light up the surrounding Southern New England sky for the first time nearly two years at Seekonk.
