INEX Legends Cars Added to Bay State Classic July 28; Sportsman Helger’s 50 Rescheduled Due to Tire Shortage

SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway announced on Friday that the INEX Legends Cars have been added to the inaugural Bay State Classic set for Wednesday, July 28, with a purse of at least $500 to win on the line. The addition of the Legends Cars also means the elimination of the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment 50-lap Sportsman race that was originally scheduled, due to the ongoing global tire shortage. The Sportsman special has been rescheduled to the annual DAV Fall Classic on Saturday, September 25, and will now serve as the final race of the championship points schedule for the division.

The Legends Cars feature will join the $10,000 to win inaugural Bay State Classic for the Pro All Star Series Super Late Models — a 150-lap feature —  and the PASS Modified division. The Legends Cars race will not be a Seekonk points race, but will give drivers a chance to showcase their talent in front of a large fanbase, chasing at least $500 to win. The purse will continue to rise if sponsorship is added. Sponsorship of the special event is available by contacting the track office directly at 508-336-9959. The hope is that Legends Cars drivers from across the region will attend the race.

“This was the best decision for everyone involved given the ongoing situation we are dealing with in short-track racing,” Ed St. Germain, Seekonk Speedway’s Director of Business Development, said. “We’re looking forward to watching some of the best Legends Cars drivers from across New England compete at Seekonk for this mid-week special event. This is going to be a can’t miss night for race fans with the high-paying Pro Stock race and the PASS Modifieds making their Seekonk debut.”
