David George Mader Jr.
OCTOBER 19, 1930 – JULY 20, 2021

David George Mader, Jr. of Homewood, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the age of 90, in Mobile, AL. Dave was born in Bridgeport, WV on October 19, 1930, to Leona and David Mader.

Dave was a master mason, bricklayer, and tennis court builder. He was also the inventor of the tennis court roller for finishing tennis courts. His first love was family and his second was racing. His 25-year career produced 430 wins as he raced the biggest names in the sport. He was inducted into the Alabama Auto Racing Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2005.

Dave is preceded by his beloved wife, Eveline. He is survived by his son, Dave Mader III, his daughter Debbie McMahan and husband Cliff. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends whose lives Dave touched are invited to join in his Celebration of Life at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Sunday, August 15, 2021. The visitation will be at 12 pm and the service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Dave Mader’s memory to Alabama Auto Racing Pioneers @ aarpinc.org.
