Evan Gilbert Wins at Riverside
Gorham N.H’s Revin Evan Gilbert got back on the winning track Saturday night at Riverside Speedway in Groveton N.H. Last week a last-lap crash destroyed Gilbert’s #28 Pontiac and left him with some bumps and bruises. Evan got the lead on a late restart and drove his backup car to victory lane. Alexis Lundblad who was also involved in Gilbert’s crash the week before drove her backup car to finish in the second spot with Windsor Hodgdon picking up third in the Claudette and Deans place DareDevils.
The North East Mini Stock tour stopped by Riverside this week for a 50 lap main event. Gorham N.H.’s Cody Leblanc, a former competitor at Riverside Speedway, had ignition problems in his heat race but come feature time the #7 was ready as LeBlanc got the lead on lap 14 and drove away from the field to get the win at his home track. Mike Viens finished second with Emerson Cayer in third position.
In the M.H. Humphrey Lil Rascals Dwarf cars, a lap one crash out of turn four ended the night for 2020 champion Roger Edgecomb and Miller Buzzell. Edgecomb got sideways and the #8 of Brad Sandborn drove over the #1x of Edgecomb collecting the #18 of Buzzell. The battle of this race was between Tom Harwood and Justin Harris with Harris getting the win, Tom Harwood in the second spot, and Andrew Harmon in third.
In the R.N. Craft Street Stocks, the Stark Shark Jamie Swallow SR. got the lead early and didn’t look back as he got his first win of the season. Groveton’s Chris Caron came in for second spot with Groveton’s Honkin Don Kenison getting back behind the wheel after quite a few years of retirement to get the third spot to the delight of the crowd.
In the Bonestock 6&8 cylinder division, Waterville Maine’s Jamie Heath cruised to the win with Maidstone VT’s. Floyd Bennett JR. getting second and St.Johnsbury’s Eric Prescott finishing in third. The creative Counters Late Models ran qualifying and two feature events to make up for a rainout earlier in the season. In feature #1 Groveton’s Corey Mason drove the Kelly and Roy Pulling horses Chevrolet to the front and got the win. Shelburne VT’s Steve Fisher was second with Jamie Swallow JR. finishing in third. The drive of the race has to go to Emily Swallow, who got back behind the wheel after a five-year absence and was coming to the front when she got high out of turn four and hit the wall ending her great run.
In the second feature, Emily once again put a march to the front and was challenging for the second spot when the race ended. Corey Mason got the win with again Steve Fisher second and Emily Swallow had a fine run coming home in the third spot. Riverside does it all again next Saturday with the Claudette and Deans place DareDevils, MH Humphrey & Sons, Lil Rascals, the Bay Haven Lobster Pound & Restaurant 350 Supers, along with the EKeys4cars formula fours and the R.N Craft street stocks. Post time is 6PM. Hope to see you there!
