Caleb Dillard Stays Hot, Wins STSS Cajun Event at Thunder Valley Speedway
GLENMORA, LA – Caleb Dillard is staying hot during the summer stretch.
On Saturday night at Thunder Valley Speedway, Dillard won his second consecutive Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Modified ‘Cajun Region’ event, extending his lead in the Day Motor Sports (Tyler, Texas) championship chase.
Dillard received $1,075 for his efforts in the sixth round of the inaugural season.
For the second consecutive event, the Robeline, La., resident fought off Shane Hebert for the Sunoco checkered flag.
Hebert, who started sixth in the Brandon Hightower-owned No. 9, surged forward to the runner-up position behind Dillard, who took the green off the outside of the front row.
Hebert pressured Dillard through the race’s second half, including a restart with five laps to go.
Dillard picked up his third victory of the season by two car-lengths.
Hebert, of Lafayette, La., was the runner-up again, followed by Tommy Rascoe of Converse, La., Jimmy McCommas of Mesquite, Texas and Greg Dillard of Many, La.
Heat winners for the 16 STSS Modifieds in attendance were Hebert and Rascoe.
Next up for the STSS Cajun Region is a first-time appearance in Texas on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Big O Speedway in Ennis, Texas.
