Matt Hirschman Shows the Way in the Night Before the Glen Rod Spalding Classic “75”

–  Beers and Preece round out Podium in Big Night at Chemung Speedrome –

Chemung, N.Y (August 8, 2021) – Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., chalked up another victory in the Race of Champions Modified Series this past Saturday night in the Night before the Glen, Rod Spalding Classic 75 at the Chemung Speedrome.

Hirschman made all of the right moves darting through traffic, eventually working himself to the lead on lap 60 of the event as he worked past early race leader Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, N.Y.

“We had a good car and it was a challenging race, it always seems that way here,” stated Hirschman. “It was good racing and we did have a good car, we are just happy to be back here in victory lane. Thank you to all of the fans who came out and all of my guys on the team for a great job today.”

Hirschman led Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa., to the line. Beers had been involved in an early race altercation with Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., but recovered to finish second. Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn., finished third. Former Race of Champions driver, Rete Britten of Howell, N.J., posted a $500 bonus in a random draw to the 5th through 10th place finishers, which went to the 9th place finisher. The award went to Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y.

Tim Gullo of Elmira, N.Y., captured the Race of Champions Super Stock Series “Tribute to Ed McGuire 51” in an exciting 51-lap feature. Gullo was found to be in violation of the rules in post-race inspection. Evan Rygielski of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., finished second while Mike Nichols of Elmira, N.Y., finished third.

Bob Palmer of Buffalo, N.Y., won the Race of Champions FOAR Score Four Cylinder Dash Series 25-lap event on Saturday. Palmer held off Nick Robinson of Waverly, Pa., and Thomas Shaffer of Gillet, Pa., to scored his second consecutive win this season.

Next up for the Race of Champions Modified Series is “The  32nd Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak” at Holland International Speedway on Saturday, August 14. The card includes the Race of Champions Modified Series, Street Stocks, FOAR Score Four Cylinder Dash Series and the NYPA TQ Midgets.

Racing returns to Spencer Speedway on Friday, August 20 featuring the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series along with the RoC Super Stocks, Rocket Performance 602 Modifieds, Wilbert’s U-Pull It 4-Cylinders and Super Sixes.
