School Bus Demolition Derby to Spotlight Riverhead Raceway Program Saturday August 21st, First of Three Shows in Seven Days

Riverhead, NY Aug. 14th. — The second and final hard-hitting School Bus Demolition Derby of the 2021 season will unfold at Riverhead Raceway this Saturday, August 21st, the first of three scheduled shows in a 7-day span at the historic facility. A complete card of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series racing joins the School Bus Demolition Derby featuring the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds. A midweek Back To School Monster Truck spectacular will thrill young and old alike Wednesday, August 25th while another exciting NASCAR program featuring the Bubba 100 NASCAR Modified event closes out the busy stretch August 28th.
The first School Bus Demolition Derby event of ’21 was a rock ’em, sock ’em affair with veteran Kevin Rommeney of East Meadow prevailing. It should be noted that “Kevo” by trade drives a Metropolitan Transit Authority bus in the borough of Brooklyn and is quick to state at times crashing the 13-ton buses at Riverhead might just be safer than his regular MTA bus route. “The Stalker” Scott Phillips of Bay Shore gave Rommeney all he could handle in the July 17th event. Other veteran School Bus Demolition Derby daredevils slated to compete include “The Punisher” Paul Fox, “Short Round” Chris Lescenski both of Riverhead, and “Mach Chicken” Rob Savoy of Selden.

The Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds will go 50-laps on the night with Kyle Soper of Manorville zeroing in on his third career championship as he entered the August 7th event with a 50-plus point lead. Joining the “Mod Squad” Saturday are the Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds, Figure Eights, Vintage All Stars, Mini Stocks, and a Truck Enduro. The Crates will race a 25-lap feature event while the Mini Stock event goes 20-circuits and the Figure Eights and Vintage All Stars race 15-lap main events. The Truck Enduro race distance will be determined by amount of entries and is normally in the 40-50 lap range.
Qualifying is set for 5:30 pm Saturday, August 21st with spectator gates opening at 4:00 pm. Adults are $30, kids 6-12 $10 with 5 and under free, tickets are sold at the track only on race day. A live stream of every event can be viewed at Riverheadraceway.Tv with this Saturday’s live stream starting at 5:15 pm.
