Woody Pitkat Wheels to 19th Place Finish During Tough Day at Monadnock Speedway

WINCHESTER, N.H. — Woody Pitkat and the Stan Mertz Racing team had a tough day on Saturday, August 14, at Monadnock Speedway with the Tri Track Open Modified Series. After a decent start to the day in practice and the qualifying race, Pitkat started inside the top-10 during the Wonder Casino 100 and ran inside the top-10 for nearly the first half of the race.

However, after a pit stop, Pitkat was collected in an accident in turn four, lost time, and went a few laps down while in the pit area for the team to make quick repairs. He was able to return to the track and finish the race, but five laps down, and in 19th position.

“It was just one of those nights, we didn’t have much luck from when we unloaded right through the race,” Pitkat said. “We will try again at our next race.”

The next scheduled event for Stan Mertz Racing is Friday, August 20, in another round of the Open Modified 80 events at Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut.

Sponsors of the team include Twisted Tea, Truly Hard Seltzer, Axis Engineering Group, Black and White Grille (Spencer, MA), TowBoatUS, Cape Towing & Salvage, J&S Motors, Pomfret Wine & Spirits, Mike Holmes & Son Excavating, Earnest Performance Shocks & Kenneth Blackmer Transport.
