Perry Wins in M.R.S. Modifieds at Riverside
August 7, 2021 — Jacob Perry made the haul to Riverside Speedway & Adventure Park worthwhile on Saturday night as he picked up the victory in the modified racing series in Groveton N.H. Perry got the lead at the midpoint of the race then had to withstand a late-race challenge from Brian Robie to get the win. Robie came home in second and Anthony Bello got third place honors.
In the Claudette and Dean’s Place Dare Devils point leader Revin Evan Gilbert found bad luck in practice and had to settle for just taking the green flag to protect the points due to a broken power steering unit. Albany N.H. Alexis Lundblad was fast on this night and had her #29 machine dialed in as she took the early lead and withstood a mid-race caution and a late-race challenge from the #23 of Windsor Hodgdon to pick up her first career feature win. Hodgdon ended the night in second with last week’s winner Brandon Sheldon claiming the third-place trophy.
The M.H.Humphrey Lil Rascals dwarf cars had a nearly race-long battle for the lead as Justin Harris wrestled the lead away from Tom Harwood with a few laps to go to get the win with Harwood hanging on for second spot with the #18 of East Baldwin, Maine’s Miller Buzzell finishing in third.
The EKeys4Cars Formula Four feature was a dog fight for the first three spots. Point leader Brian Putney got the lead with six laps remaining and held on for another victory as last week’s winner Ryan Heuser battled through the field and finally got around the #169 of Brendan Rhodes for second with Rhodes picking up the third-place hardware.
The 6 & 8 cylinder bone stocks saw a first-time winner as Maidstone Vermont’s Floyd Bennett JR. put his Dodge #90 out front to get the win.
The Bad Boy Mowers of Morrisville Four cylinder Bone stocks came to the line 22 cars strong and when the checkered flag flew for the first time winner, Groveton’s own Julian Kenison found himself in victory lane. Irasberg, Vermont’s Aaron Smith fought through for second with 2019 Bone stock four champ Nick Ogden taking third place honors.
This Saturday night the creative Counters Late Models do battle with heats and a forty lap main event along with the Claudette and Dean’s Place dare Devils, The EKeys4Cars formula fours, The M.H.Humphrey Lil Rascals, and the Bad Boy Mowers of Morrisville bone stocks.
Also on Friday night, there will be a fundraiser in the beer barn to help Ron Gilcris SR. who is battling some health issues. There will be wings, steak tips, adult beverages, and all kinds of prizes to be raffled off. The fundraiser starts at 7 to 10 Friday night with a 6 P.M. post time Saturday. Hope to see you there.
