Sportsman Champions Challenge Highlights Cavalcade Cup Weekend at Weedsport

WEEDSPORT, NY (August 18, 2021) – The DIRTcar Sportsman will compete on consecutive nights during Weedsport Speedway’s Cavalcade Cup Weekend on September 11-12, with the Stirling Lubricants Champions Challenge highlighting Sunday night action.

This special DIRTcar Sportsman invitational on Sunday, September 12 will run 25-laps, paying $1,000 to win, along with a guaranteed starting position for Weedsport Speedway’s Super DIRT Week special on Wednesday, October 6.

Invites for this Sunday night showdown will be issued to the top five drivers in track points from speedways in the Central Region of the DIRTcar Sportsman division; including Brewerton Speedway, Can-Am Speedway, Fulton Speedway, Land of Legends Raceway, Outlaw Speedway (Hoosier), Thunder Mountain Speedway and Weedsport Speedway.

Due to overlap in points for speedways, an invite could also be issued to the highest driver in the Central Region Series standings, not already receiving a track invite.

Point standings will be final as of Monday, September 6.

As many as four drivers, not already invited to the Champions Challenge, will also be added to the Sunday lineup based on the Saturday, September 11 main event finish in order to build a total field of 26-28 cars for the Sunday finale.

The Stirling Lubricants Champions Challenge will be a feature-only event, with drivers drawing for timed hot lap groups.  The 24 fastest drivers will then be entered into a random inversion draw of positions 1-24 by a lucky fan in the stands.
