Sheppard (Modified) & Hartman (Crate 602) lead Short Track Super Series Into Thunder Mountain Tuesday

CENTER LISLE, NY – A two-man race.

Just three races remain on the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply North Region of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco.

Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard and Middletown, N.Y.’s Anthony Perrego have separated themselves from the competition over the course of the seven races contested thus far.

Sheppard heads to the ‘Lightning on the Mountain’ at Thunder Mountain Speedway maintaining a 19-point advantage over Perrego as the tour winds down.

‘Super’ Matt has won two of the seven races thus far, collecting the checkered flags at Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, Pa., and Woodhull (N.Y.) Raceway and finishing in the top-10 in all seven events thus far.

Meanwhile, his closest competitor Anthony Perrego has also finished in the top-10 in every North Region event as well. However, Perrego’s lone North Region win came in the opener at Accord (N.Y.) Speedway.

The lead pair also lead North Region competitors in top-five finishes with Sheppard having six top-fives to his credit and Perrego with five.

Sheffield, Mass., driver Andy Bachetti sits third in points, a distant 89 markers out of the top spot. Bachetti boasts seven top-10s in seven attempts on the North Region thus far, but just two top-five finishes.

The Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region Crate 602 Sportsman fight also appears to have become a two-man race.

The 2019 North Region champion Tim Hartman Jr. holds a 30-point advantage over his closest competitor Payton Talbot.

Talbot, a South New Berlin, N.Y. native, picked up his first career STSS win at Utica-Rome this season, passing Hartman Jr. on his way to the win.

Tim Hartman Jr. on the other hand is the only North Region driver to finish in the top-five in all four North Region features.
