American Racer Pro Stock 75 Added to Schedule for September 11

SEEKONK, Mass. — The Pro Stocks are going back extra-distance at Seekonk Speedway for the first time since the beginning of the summer.

NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Pro Stock teams will be running 75 laps on Saturday, September 11, as Seekonk remembers those lost during the 9/11 tragedy. The race, sponsored by American Racer, will be a salute to all of the teams who have been fighting through the season without extra distance racing and continuing to support the track through this tough time. The American Racer 75 will be a four-tire race — meaning teams can purchase and run four brand new tires for that night.

The race will be $2,000 to win and $1,500 for second, with a full purse throughout the field.

At the beginning of the summer, Seekonk Speedway announced that tires would be limited due to the ongoing national tire shortage, and extra-distance racing was going to be seized for the time being. This event will be the only extra-distance event on the schedule at this point — but the track is trying to compile other events for other divisions, depending on the tire situation going down the stretch run.

Seekonk wishes to thank American Racer for their dedicated support during this unprecedented time. They have worked hard to make sure Seekonk maintained a solid tire allotment for the summer to allow for all events to take place as scheduled.

“This is going to be a can’t miss event on our schedule as the 2021 season winds down,” Ed St. Germain, Director of Business Development at Seekonk, said. “We look forward to watching our drivers race for 75 laps and showcase their talent for our race fans. A big thanks goes to the team at American Racer for their endless assistance to make everything work.”

Seekonk Speedway wishes to thank staff members Lenny Ellis, David Alburn, and Kim Randall for their efforts in figuring out the best plan to keep racing alive during the summer months by limiting the amount of tires that drivers could buy. The plan has clearly worked — and the track is excited to witness a thrilling Pro Stock battle as the championship race heats up. Teams will also be allowed four tires for the championship finale night 40-lap race on September 18. The other eight Seekonk divisions will crown champions on September 24 and 25.
