Forecast Calling for Approaching Rain Moves Riverhead Raceway East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 to Sunday

Riverhead, NY Nov. 13th — As the week leading up to the East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 at Riverhead Raceway progressed, local weather forecasts for Long Island worsened for Saturday. By the time Friday morning arrived a 70% chance of rain associated with a cold front was predicted to arrive in Riverhead mid-afternoon. With that in mind coupled with race teams and fans traveling to the Island for the event, Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz made the decision to postpone the East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 to it’s Sunday rain date.

The race day event schedule in place will remain as originally announced with pit registration opening at 8:00 am. A half-hour INEX Legend Race Car practice will commence at 10:00 am followed by the Crate Mods at 10;30 am. A one-hour Tour Type Modified practice session will hit the track at 11:00 am, spectator gates will open at 11 as well. Qualifying will start with Legends at 1:00 pm with the Crate Mods and Tour Type Modifieds to follow. Only if necessary B-Mains will be contested for the three classes.

One casualty of the postponement from Saturday to Sunday is the on-track 2021 Riverhead Raceway Champions ceremony. Track spokesman Bob Finan explained, “we have many race teams and fans traveling to Long Island for the 300. With the race moving to Sunday, many if not all of them have to be at work Monday morning, we’d like to get them home at a reasonable hour”. To that end Bob furthered, “we decided to move the 2021 champions and top five presentations off the Sunday program to expedite the show. We have been in contact with Connor Halpin from the All Star of Riverhead and those ceremonies will move to the All Star in early January”. Bob noted further details will be forthcoming.

General admission for the East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 is $35 for adults, $15 for kids 6-12, 5 & under are free. Pit admission is $55. A live stream of the race can be found at Riverheadraceway.Tv starting at 12:45 pm. Race day event schedule, rules & race procedure, and entry list are available at www.riverheadraceway.com.
