Ron Silk to Sub for Vacation Bound Roger Turbush in East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 Sunday
Riverhead, NY Nov 13th — When racing gives you lemons, you make lemonade. That is exactly what Pat & Doris Kennedy car owners for Roger Turbush are doing just hours before the East-West Marine Supply Islip 300 Sunday at Riverhead Raceway. Saturday morning the Kennedy Long Island Realty team announced they have tabbed former WMT Ron Silk of Norwalk, Ct. as their driver. Turbush could not make the reschedule date as he and his family are flying to Disney World in Florida Sunday afternoon for a post-season vacation.
“We knew we were in a spot when the track announced Friday morning the race was being moved to Sunday. It stung because of Roger’s third-place finish in the WMT here in September, we were all pumped to see what he could do in the 300” Pat Kennedy revealed. “But family is family and we fully understand and support Roger wanting to take his young family to Disney”. While Kennedy, car owner not just to Roger but Chris Turbush as well did not reveal the process on securing the driving services of Ron Silk, he was excited with the choice. “Ron is a past NASCAR WMT champion, a championship he won with Eddie & Connie Partridge. It’s pretty special with him in our car along with Ryan Preece and Jimmy Blewett in the field. Three of the most successful drivers ever to drive for him will compete in a race that was Eddie’s vision”.
