2022 Stock Car Schedule Released at NYIRP at Lancaster
LANCASTER, NY (November 19, 2021) … Eleven race dates highlight the 2022 stock car schedule for New York International Raceway Park at Lancaster Speedway and Dragway. From the middle of May through the middle of September, stock cars will roar around the historic Lancaster ½ mile oval, and the schedule is filled with something for everyone.
“We would like to welcome the area’s best drivers back to NYIRP,” comments track owner Sylvia Antonicelli. “We have worked hard on the schedule, and we cannot wait to get the 2022 stock car season underway,” Antonicelli continued. “2022 will see the New York Super Stock Series (NYSS) and the Small Block Super Modified Championship Series in action plus four Tour-Modified races. The schedule is jammed-packed, and we cannot wait to see our great fans back in the stands,” Antonicelli said.
The stock car season will begin on Saturday, May 21 with the first visit by the NYSS, plus Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. Saturday, June 4 will be the makeup 33rd US Open 125 for Tour-Type Modifieds, plus Late Models and Street Stocks. Saturday, June 18 will see the Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets in action. The month of June will end on Thursday, June 30 with the running of the Ol’ Boy Cup 60 for Tour-Type Modifieds. The Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets will round out the racing card that evening.
Entering the month of July, the NYSS will return on July 9 plus Sportsman, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. Saturday, July 30 will be the Sportsman Summer Bash 50, with Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. Saturday, August 13th will be the annual Legends of Lancaster Night, featuring the “Hurricane” Heckler Memorial for the Street Stocks plus the Tour-Type Modifieds, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets. Thursday, August 18 will see the Sportsman, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets in competition. The fan-favorite Autograph Night will take place on Saturday, August 27, with the Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets all in action.
September 10th and 11th will be the 34th US Open Weekend. September 10th will see the Sportsman, Super Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets in competition. Then on Sunday, September 11, the Tour-Type Modifieds will race for 125 laps around the historic Lancaster oval. The Late Models and Street Stocks will also be part of the Sunday show as well as the inaugural visit to Lancaster by the Small Block Super Modified Championship Series.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Lancaster and join the historic US Open Weekend,” said Small Block Super Championship Series Promoter, Dan Kapuscinski. The Small Block Super Modified Championship Series features the cars and stars of the Small Block Super Modifieds, which has been a mainstay at Oswego Speedway since 1992.
