ACT Returns to Autodrome Montmagny in a Big Money Way
Barre, VT — The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) has added a 13th event to the 31st Season of ACT Late Model Championship Stock Car Racing. For the first time in over two decades, the ACT Late Model Tour will contest a points-counting event at Autodrome Montmagny, nearly 40 miles Northeast of Quebec City, Canada.
On August 20th, the ‘Can-Am 200’ will pit American invaders against the Canadian home turf defenders who will certainly battle hard for the $10,000 USD top prize.
Autodrome Montmagny originally began as a dirt oval, first opening in June of 1994, later taking shape to the current 3/8 mile asphalt layout in 1998. Ever since, Autodrome Montmagny has been featured on the touring schedules of Serie-ACT, Pro All Stars Series, Serie Sportsman Quebec and Procam Super Trucks. After Kenny Therriaut and Melaine Picard purchased the track in 2010, Montmagny has seen continued growth while adding a 1/8 mile dragstrip and 2 kilometer road course to the property for fans of all motorsports. The stock car program, led by Howard Romanado, has also seen great success over the last decade, attracting some of the best in Quebec at each and every event.
8-time champion Brian Hoar won the only ACT Late Model Tour event at the Montmagny speedplant way back in 1999. While the Montmagny 200 was the only US-based ACT Late Model event, Autodrome Montmagny acted as a lynchpin in the 11-year run of the Quebec-based Serie-ACT. Between 2007 and 2017, Montmagny held 28 Serie-ACT events, the final 100 lap showdown boosting Jonathan Bouvrette to clench his first championship over Patrick Laperle. Both drivers will certainly look to take gold at home once again.
The Can-Am 200 at Autodrome Montmagny on August 20th, 2022 will feature a $10,000 USD-winners check with a $700 USD-to-start purse coming at a crucial point in the ACT Late Model Tour season. Caught between the Milton CAT Midsummer 250 at White Mountain Motorsports Park and the Oxford Plains 125 in Oxford, Maine, the Can-Am 200 will challenge point leading teams in a stalemate challenge against a strong mix of New England outlaws and a stout Quebecois home team.
