“Go” Time: $93,300 in Regional Point Funds Await STSS Modified Racers as Northeast Season Begins

MILLSBORO, DE – It’s “go” time, with extra cash on the line!

The 2022 Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco season gets its Northeast season underway with significantly increased point funds for both the STSS Modified River Valley Builders North Region and Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region.

Trips to Fla.’s All-Tech Raceway and S.C.’s Cherokee Speedway have been completed, turning attention toward the STSS summer stretch in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

For 2022, competitors in both the STSS Modified North and South Regions will compete for point funds boosted by BD Motorsports Media LLC, operator of the Short Track Super Series.

Champions in each region will now compete for $15,000 from respective totals of $46,650 in both the River Valley Builders North Region and Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply North Region, a total of $93,300 in point fund money not to include the six-race Halmar International ‘Elite’ program.

The complete point fund for both the North and South Regions is as follows: 1 – $15,000; 2 – $7,500; 3 – $5,000; 4 – $4,000; 5 – $3,000; 6 – $2,500; 7 – $2,000; 8 – $1,750; 9 – $1,650; 10 – $1,500; 11 – $1,450; 12 – $1,250. Total: $46,650

After the postponement of the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Del.’s Georgetown Speedway to October, the Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region kicks off in Central Pennsylvania this weekend with the ‘Icebreaker’ at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday and ‘Spring Speed Showcase’ at Port Royal Speedway on Sunday.

Both 40-lap events offer $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th, and an increased $500 to take the green flag.

The River Valley Builders North Region gets the green flag on Saturday, April 2 with the ‘Hard Clay Open’ at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y. (rain date: April 3). The 50-lap event pays $25,000 to win, $1,000 for 16th and $500 to start, serving as a dual-points event between the North Region and six-race Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series.

Matt Sheppard (River Valley Builders North Region) & Mike Mahaney (Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply South Region) are reigning Short Track Super Series champions.
