Matt Galko, Stan Mertz Racing Ready For SBM Classic at Star Speedway
WHITINSVILLE, Mass. – For the first time this season, Matt Galko and Stan Mertz Racing will team together to compete at a track not named Stafford Motor Speedway this weekend. Galko will drive the No. 6 Koopman Lumber Tour-Type Modified at Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire, on Saturday, July 23, to compete in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series SBM 125.
The $ 7,500-to-win race will present some of the top talent in Modified racing, and Galko is ready for the challenge. In his races so far with Stan Mertz Racing in 2022, Galko has led laps and been in contention to win nearly all of them.
The Tri-Track race at Star will be the second race for the team with the series in 2022 – as Woody Pitkat drove the No. 6 to a top-10 finish at Thunder Road Speedbowl in May.
“I’m very excited to get back to work with the team,” Galko said. “We’ve consistently shown speed and I think we will transition that right into Star Speedway. I’ve run well there before in the past and the Stan Mertz Racing No. 6 has always been strong there as well. I think with our experience combined together, we will be a threat for victory.”
The race day schedule for Star includes one practice session from 1:30-2:30 p.m., followed by the start of qualifying heats at 4 p.m. The feature race for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series is scheduled to go green around 7:30 p.m., live on RacingAmerica.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. Tickets will be available at the gate for those in the area.
