NITTANY SHOWDOWN – Friday-Saturday, Oct. 7-8
Track: Port Royal Speedway
Location: Port Royal, PA
To Win: $10,000 (Friday) / $15,000 (Saturday)
Latest Winner: Kyle Larson (July 20)
Notables: Kyle Larson has been one of the most dominant drivers at Port Royal Speedway the last three years, spoiling the World of Outlaws versus PA Posse battling by winning in July and sweeping the Nittany Showdown in 2020.
Before his command of the half-mile track, that reign belonged to 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz. He won three straight Series events at the track from 2017 to 2019. However, he’s been hit and miss at the track in his last few visits there. He finished 19th there in July and had two top-four finishes in 2021. Having won his 11th Knoxville Nationals title this year on the half-mile Knoxville Raceway, he and his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team will enter the event, knowing they have a solid half-mile package.
Spencer Bayston, the leading Rookie of the Year contender this year picked up his second career Series win at Port Royal during the Nittany Showdown last year. He has two wins this season, but since hasn’t found solid consistency. He and his CJB Motorsports team will be eager build momentum for a strong end to the season with another Port Royal win.
PA Posse members Danny Dietrich, of Gettysburg, PA, and Anthony Macri, of Dillsburg, PA, will lead the group into the battle with the World of Outlaws, having finished second and third, respectively, in July. Dietrich has nine national series wins at the speedway, including one in July, while Macri has 19, including one in June.
