350 SMAC Supernationals Coming to Thompson Speedway Sunoco World Series
Thompson, CT — In an exciting release of an all-new nine-race schedule, the 350 Super Modified Atlantic Charter (SMAC) Tour will be visiting five new racetracks in New England and New York. Among these changes, perhaps the most thrilling is the movement of the season-ending 350 SMAC Supernationals to Thompson Speedway for the 61st Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing on Saturday, October 7th.
Throughout their young history, the 350 SMAC Tour has always ended their season with the 350 Supernationals as a way of celebrating the end-of-the-year accomplishments of the series. For the first time, the Supernationals will celebrate the 350 Supermodifieds at a new venue and New England’s biggest weekend with the 61st Sunoco World Series at Thompson Speedway. Also for the first time, the 350 SMAC Supernationals are placed alongside the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) giving fans a double-shot of winged, open-wheeled Supermodified racing on Saturday, October 7th.
“The SMAC Supernationals have always been a time to say thank you to sponsors, staff, teams, and drivers who put their all into making each season so very special,” said 350 SMAC promoter James Rusaw. “We’re excited that this year’s Supernationals will be non-points with the best of the best in Supermodifieds invited to compete at one of the fastest, most challenging, and most historic tracks in the Northeast.”
“Tom and I have been looking to get the 350 Supermodifieds at the Sunoco World Series since we started working together to operate Thompson,” said American-Canadian Tour managing partner Cris Michaud. “We both really enjoy the racing that these Supers put on and we’re both excited to host the 350 SMAC Tour at the World Series and our respective tracks in 2023.”
The 350 SMAC Supernationals join the $10,000-to-win Thompson Outlaw Open Modified Sunoco 100 and the New England Supermodified Series to headline Day Two of the three-day 61st Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing at Thompson Speedway from Friday, October 6th to Sunday, October 8th. The annual showcase of short track racing will also feature three days of Tour-type Modifieds including the Milton Cat Modified Racing Series and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and championship celebrations for the Thompson Speedway local divisions.
Moving into their sixth season, the 350 Super Modified Atlantic Charter (SMAC) touring series has brought the excitement of 350 Supermodified racing to new audiences across New England and New York.
