Hickory Begins Road to All-Star Late Model Showdown with SRX at Thunder Road
Barre, VT — While the St. Patrick’s Day 125 and Easter Bunny 125 for the American-Canadian Tour are not set as point-counting events for the 2023 season, they nonetheless hold major implications for teams making the trip south. The winners of these two events will be the first to punch their tickets for the All-Star Late Model Showdown at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont as part of the huge SRX Racing event on Thursday, July 20th. The special 64-lap event, to celebrate Thunder Road’s 64th season, will feature the best of the best American-Canadian Tour, Thunder Road, Serie ACT Quebec and White Mountain Motorsports Park campaigners in front of what will possibly be the biggest crowd in Thunder Road history.
The field of eligible drivers for the All-Star Late Model Showdown will be set in a number of ways. First and foremost, winners on the American-Canadian Tour and Serie ACT Quebec along with weekly Late Model winners at Thunder Road and White Mountain Motorsports Park. Along with these winners, the top-5 in points for these same tracks and tours on the week of July 20th, 2023 will also be eligible to race. Lastly, former ACT, Thunder Road and White Mountain Late Model champions and former Vermont Milk Bowl winners will also be eligible to join the fray. Overall eligibility will ultimately hinge on the driver’s support of ACT-sanctioned events and tracks in the upcoming season.
“We’re excited to start the Road to the All-Star Showdown at Hickory Motor Speedway this coming weekend,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “We expect to release the All-Star Showdown purse in the coming weeks but make no mistake, it will be the finest collection of stars from across the American-Canadian Tour umbrella and it all starts with the winners of the St. Patrick’s Day 125 and the Easter Bunny 125.”
The St. Patrick’s Day 125 on Friday, March 17th and the Easter Bunny 125 on Saturday, March 18th at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway start the 2023 American-Canadian Tour season Southern Style. Alongside the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models and the Mighty Mini Series, the non-point twin features for the American-Canadian Tour will also earn their respective winners a chance to tackle the All-Star Showdown at Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road alongside the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) on Thursday, July 20th.
