Koty Adams Wires STSS Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ Field at 105 Speedway

CLEVELAND, TX – Wire-to-wire.

Koty Adams led from start to finish Saturday night in the opener for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ at 105 Speedway in Cleveland, Texas.

The event marked the first of five scheduled Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ appearances at the facility located on the outskirts of Houston and Round No. 1 of 15 in the Day Motor Sports (Tyler, Texas) point series for 2023.

The Haughton, La., driver picked up $1,200 for his efforts in the 25-lap main on Autism Awareness Night.

Adams dominated the caution-free event, taking the Sunoco checkered flag with an advantage of more than a straightaway over runner-up Keith Badiali.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, however.

“In hot laps, we started out with water in the fuel,” Adams said. “We got that fixed.

“Awesome track surface. It looked like it started to take rubber in the middle at the end.”

Adams dedicated the win to his car owner, Frank Lofton, who underwent surgery for cancer on Friday.

“He still let me come race,” Adams said. “This one is for him.”

Badiali, of Benton, La., ran second for the entire distance. Kodey Keimig of Waxahachie, Texas completed a three-wide, outside-lane pass around Chase Hatton and a lapped car to grab the final podium position with five laps remaining.

Hatton, of De Berry, Texas and Tommy Rascoe of Converse, La., completed the front five.

Heat winners were Rascoe and Adams.

Two-time and reigning series champion Caleb Dillard was unable to start the feature after a heat-race incident.

The Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ heads to Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La., on Saturday, April 15 for Round No. 2 of the Day Motor Sports point series.
