Riley Returns to Pure Stock Victory Lane, Filippone Finds Slingshot Winner’s Circle Prior To Rain at Star Speedway on June 3

(June 3, 2023) — Star Speedway began their scheduled Saturday racing program but did not get the chance to finish due to weather this past Saturday night. However, before the Webber family was forced to cancel the remainder of the racing program, qualifying for all divisions had been completed along with two feature events. Two new drivers became feature winners for the first time in 2023, as the MLM Pure Stocks, and K-Cob Slingshots were able to complete their main events before inclement weather swept through the area.

In the K-COB Plumbing and Heating Slingshots it was another young driver who has progressed from a start in the Star Trooper program taking home his first ever weekly division win on Saturday night.

Jackson Filippone, who has made a steady progression since first debuting in the Slingshots two seasons ago, was able to close the deal on Saturday and take home his first career win in the division. Fellow Star Trooper graduate, and another driver who recently claimed his first career Slingshot win, Joey Fraser, crossed the line behind Filippone, adding another podium finish to his 2023 resume. Last year’s Six Shooter champion Nate LeClair, who has been a very consistent runner in the Slingshot division to begin his rookie season, took home the third position behind Filippone and Fraser.

Defending Pure Stock track champion George Riley Jr. has put together a consistent start to his 2023 racing season and on Saturday, Riley topped all of his fellow competitors en route to his first win of the season. Riley was surrounded by Osbornes in the top three with Gage finishing in the second position, and Billy rounding out the podium in third. Both Gage and Billy have claimed Star Speedway wins in the early going of the 2023 season and the pair, along with Riley, are surefire contenders for this years Pure Stock championship crown.

Star Speedway will be back in action next Saturday night June 10th with a special $5 admission night, rescheduled from Friday, June 9. Full information on this event will be posted on social media and available online at StarSpeedwayNH.com.
