LeClair, Mccarthy, Partridge, Harwood, Curtis, Janowiec & Osgood Take Home Saturday Night Wins at Star
(June 10, 2023) — Star Speedway had a busy night of racing this past Saturday, June 10th, and a handful of drivers picked up their first Star wins of the 2023 season. With the Slingshots, Six Shooters, Dwarf Cars, Cruisers, Junk Yard Dogs, and Mighty Trucks all in action on Saturday night, the Star Speedway pit area was packed with race cars set to do battle at The Place To Race. Six drivers were able to capture their first Star wins on the year, and for two of those winners it was their first ever wins at the Epping oval.
Defending Six Shooter champion Nate LeClair has definitely adapted well to his move up to the Slingshots this season, as he grabbed his second feature win of his rookie campaign on Saturday night. LeClair has finished in the top-five in every race he has entered at Star this season, putting himself in position as not only a rookie of the year favorite, but also a definite championship contender. Although his latest win was in a non-points race, LeClair’s string of early season podium finishes puts him in excellent position as a championship hopeful through the early stages of the 2023 season.
The 2 To Go Show Six Shooters had two feature events on schedule for Saturday night, the first of which being a makeup from the previous Saturday’s rained out event. Ryan McCarthy scored his first ever Star Speedway Six shooter win in the first feature event over Adam Knowles and Jeremy Hayes. When feature event number two rolled out, Ryan Partridge took control and claimed his first Star Speedway win of 2023 in the division. Zach Washburn crossed the stripe in the second position, with Jeremy Hayes taking home the third spot, giving the young driver his second podium of the night.
Tom Harwood has been on quite the roll to start the 2023 Dwarf Car season, already being a multiple-time winner across the region. At features end, it was Harwood once again who paced the field taking home a long awaited first career win at the place to race. Chris Sullivan took home the second spot behind Harwood with Jimmy Ryder rounding off the podium in third.
The Mighty Trucks were in action on Saturday night and John Curtis was the man to beat as he topped the competition en route to the feature win. In Cruiser division action, it was Sebastian Janowiec who crossed the stripe first in the main event giving him his first Star win of 2023 in the division. Brad Osgood took home top honors in Junkyard Dog competition on Saturday night, besting the field of competitors.
