Rusty Harpe Memorial Returns to Caraway Speedway Saturday Daggett & Shuler Attorneys Present SMART Modified Tour

Challengers, 602 Mods, Mini Stocks, UCARS, and Bootleggers on Schedule

(Sophia, NC): Rusty Harpe was a long-time competitor at Asheboro, NC’s Caraway Speedway. He raced in the Limited Late Model and the Late Model Stock Car divisions. He won a Championship in the Limited Late Model division and many wins in each division. More importantly, Harpe was a great ambassador for the sport and embodied the spirit and determination it takes to succeed in our sport. Rusty lost his life in a farm accident in January of 2007. The Rusty Harpe Memorial has been a fixture at Caraway Speedway since 2007 except for the pandemic seasons. David Daggett has been a sponsor of the event since its inception and has been joined by his partner, Griff Shuler for several years.

The 2023 running of the RHM features the SMART Modified Tou in a 99-lap feature race. The series features NASCAR “Cup” Champion, Bobby Labonte, 2021 SMART Champion, Burt Myers, Jason Myers, Brian and Carson Loftin, Bowman Gray Champion, Tim Brown, Brandon Ward, Joey Coulter, Jonathan “John Boy” Brown, Daniel Yates, two-time PRA Modified Champion, Jeremy Gerstner, Jason Poole and over a dozen more of the best Modified drivers on the east coast. There are 28 drivers on the entry list for the “Revolutionary 99”.

In addition to the SMART Modifieds, the 602 Crate Modifieds will be n action with drivers like Jaxson Casper, Mitchell Wright, Billy Gregg, Slate Myers, Jack and Luke Baldwin, and others in a 50-lapper.

The Caraway Speedway Challenger division will be in action as a strong field will be chasing a $300.00 bounty on Allen Vance. Vance has five wins this year but several Challenger teams have set their sights on the extra cash offered to anyone beating Vance in the 50 lap feature Saturday night.

The Caraway Classic Mini Stocks do battle for the $600.00 to win prize in their own 40 lap special. The event offers $100.00 to start and a $100.00 award to the fastest qualifier sponsored by V’s Barbere Shop.

The UCAR division has a 15-lapper on the schedule and the Bootleggers will also run a 15-lap feature and fireworks will end the night.
