Teams Come Together for Matt Clay Memorial on Midseason Championships

N. Woodstock, NH — Following the unexpected loss of longtime team member and White Mountain supporter Matt Clay in June, the Cody LeBlanc and Quinny Welch racing teams got together to add a $1,000 bonus to the Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Model purse as part of Midseason Championships this Saturday, July 8th.

Matt Clay of Lancaster was a longtime crew member for both Jean LeBlanc and Quinny Welch over the years at White Mountain Motorsports Park. After a battle with diabetes worsened, Matt was unable to pit crew but rarely missed a Saturday night in the Mountains, often taking in the sights and sounds of New Hampshire’s Favorite Short Track from the main grandstands.

Following his untimely passing, Jean, Jane, and Cody LeBlanc got together with Quinny Welch to put up a $1,000 bonus added to the payout for Saturday’s Mini Late Model portion of the Midseason Championships with each member of the top-ten finishers taking home a $100 bonus added on to their purse.

The Matt Clay Memorial will pay $500 to win with second taking $400, third taking $375, fourth taking $350 and fifth taking $325. Sixth through tenth will earn $300, $275, $250, $225, and $200, respectively.

“We were all shocked with his passing, not knowing how sick he truly was,” said Jean LeBlanc by phone on Tuesday. “I got together with Quinny and we quickly decided to try and put something together in memory of Matt. He loved White Mountain and we’re thankful that the track agreed to put this on.”

Thunder returns to the Mountains for the Midseason Championships on Saturday, July 8th! With Double Points on the line in all divisions, it’s a crucial summer showdown in the championship chase. All six divisions will be in action including the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis, Wayne’s Market Dwarf Cars, and the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division. Along with double points, the Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Model Matt Clay Memorial will include $100 cash bonuses to the top-10 finishers in memory of a true race fan.
