Ryan Locke Captures Jim Belfiore Memorial Win; Charlie Baldwin Wins Another Fast 40 as Part of Doubleheader Weekend at Star

(July 10, 2023) — It was an action-packed weekend at The Place To Race, as Star Speedway hosted a Friday and Saturday night doubleheader with a total of 14 feature events over the course of two days. With an even split of seven divisions on Friday and Saturday, it was a busy weekend all around at the Epping Oval, with some familiar faces able to find their way back to Star victory lane and there were even a few first-time winners as well.

Friday nights racing saw the K-COB Slingshots continue their King series and once again it was a rookie, Nate LeClair, who picked up the win, his fourth of the 2023 season. Joey Fraser finished out the Slingshot main in the second spot, with fellow Super Trooper graduate Jenna Beaulieu rounding off the podium in third.

The Dwarf Cars were also back on track and it was Justin Harris who added another Star Speedway win to his career resume in the divisions main event. Veteran Chris Sullivan crossed the stripe in the second spot, with Cody Hodgdon trailing him in third.

Second-generation driver Kyle Dumas scored his first career win in Super Trooper action during Friday nights races as well. In the Mighty Truck division, John Curtis bested all comers, as he took home checkers once again in the upstart divisions main event. Sebastian Janowiec won again in Star Cruiser action, making it back to back wins for him at Star Speedway. Cody Petrin took home top honors in the Junkyard Dogs feature event, and Ed Flannigan was the winner in the Pro V8 Enduro race.

Saturday night’s racing program was highlighted by the running of the Jim Belfiore Memorial feature event for the 350 Supermodifieds. Ryan Locke bested the competition taking home the win in the 40-lap main event. Ryan Battle crossed the line in the second spot, with Eddie Witkum Jr. rounding off the podium in third.

Connor McDougal made it back to back wins in Izzett Construction Late Model action, as he took home top honors over Chase Curtis and Justin Storace in the division’s feature event. In Woody’s Auto Street Stock action, it was another back to back winner. Charlie Baldwin saw the checkers fly once again, this time over fellow multiple-time 2023 Star Speedway winners Joe Ventrillo and Shane Gendron.

The 2 To Go Show Six Shooters presented by Top Gun Roofing saw Paul Childs take home his first win of the year with Jeremy Hayes and Billy McCarthy rounding out the top three. The STAR Tour was also on hand for Saturday’s racing and in STAR Sportsman action it was Skip Stearns taking checkers, while Alan Zemla was the winner in STAR Modified action.

Star Speedway is headed into a scheduled off week for this coming weekend of June 15th and 16th but we look forward to seeing you all when we return to action on July 21 and 22. The July 22 show includes the return of the Tri-Track Modifieds.
