Fifteen Races, Fourteen Different Winners, Another Busy Weekend of Racing in the Books at Star Speedway
(August 12, 2023) — It was an action-packed weekend at Star Speedway, with racing scheduled for both Friday and Saturday night, and with mother nature’s cooperation this time around. A host of drivers found their way to victory lane over the course of two nights. Friday night’s schedule had nine races on the card including a double feature event for the K-COB Slingshots, while the Saturday evening schedule had six main events including double features for both the Izzett Construction Late Models & Woody’s Auto Street Stocks.
Friday evenings racing saw Dwight Souther Jr., and Brian Caswell split victories in the two main events for the K-COB Slingshots. Souther crossed the stripe ahead of Nate LeClair & Dave Cameron in the first main event for the division. Caswell topped the competition in the second feature of the night for the Slingshot, with LeClair once again taking home runner-up honors and Jaxson Fillapone rounding off the podium.
The NELCAR Legends and Bandolero divisions were also on Friday’s schedule and Zach Martinez took home the win in the Legend Feature, while Grayson Day took top honors in the Bandolero main event. Dave Lamson was once again the winner in the Mighty Truck division, while Sullivan Olsen topped the field in the Morse Trucking Cruiser feature race. The Pro V-8 win went to Matt Robinson, and Traver Michaud visited victory lane once again in the Super Trooper main event.
On Saturday, Connor McDougal and Erick Sands split the Late Model main events, while Charlie Baldwin claimed both wins in Woody’s Auto Street Stock action.
McDougal claimed checkers in the first feature for the Late Models with Jaret Curtis crossing the stripe behind him in second and Erick Sands third. When the second main of the night rolled out on track for the Late Models, it was Erick Sands who showed the way earning himself the victory. McDougal trailed Sands to the line in second race, with Jimmy Connors rounding off the podium in third.
Charlie Baldwin was definitely the man to beat in Woody’s Auto Street Stock action on Saturday, as he topped the competition in both feature events for the division. In the first feature, Shane Gendron crossed the line behind Baldwin in second, with Rob MacRae rounding off the podium in third. Street Stock feature number two saw Justin Beecher score the second-place finish behind Baldwin, with Shane Gendron rounding out the top three.
The 2 To Go Show Six Shooters took to the track on Saturday 20 cars strong and at races end it was Randy Washburn on top, as he claimed the feature win, his first of the 2023 season. Second-place went to multiple-time winner this season, Billy Eastman, while Jeremy Hayes rounded off the podium in the third spot.
In the MLM Diagnostic Pure Stock main event it was once again veteran Billy Osborne who took home the feature win. Daryl Quinlan crossed the stripe in the second spot with Gage Osborne rounding out the top three.
Star Speedway will be back in action yet again this Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19, with another doubleheader. For more information on the track and to learn more about upcoming events, visit us at StarSpeedwayNH.com.
