Ross Holmes Passes Away

1951 – 2023
Ross W. Holmes passed away on October 11, 2023, peacefully while being surrounded by his girls. Born May 12, 1951, in Amherst he was the son of Robert (Mary Ann) Holmes and Joan (Harold) Sink. Ross was a machinist working for Diversified Manufacturing in Lockport for 50 years retiring in 2021.
Ross’s love for racing allowed him a 30-year career driving the Lazy 8 to popular victories throughout Western New York. Ross later hung up his helmet to take on a new role as the most incredible “Pops” to his two grandsons. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Ball) Holmes on February 28, 2023.
Ross is survived by his three amazing daughters Michelle (Dean) Holmes-Anderson, Charyl (Eric) Williams, and Kay (John) Rahlf; two grandchildren EJ Williams and Grayson Rahlf who were the center of his world: brothers Clifford (Teri) Holmes, Michael (Tina) Holmes, and Christopher (Krista) Holmes; also several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was also predeceased by his two sisters Jody Sossong and Bonnie Mack.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, Oct. 16th from 3-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17th at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Wrights Corners Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the FOAR Score fan club in Ross’s name.
