After Historic Flooding and Central Vermont Rebuild, SRX Set for July 18, 2024 Thunder Road Debut

Barre, VT — The Central Vermont area has been steadily rebuilding since devastating flooding in July of 2023 wreaked havoc across the region. While work continues, many homes have been repaired, many businesses reopened, and now another light at the end of the tunnel approaches. The Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) Series is ready to make its Thunder Road debut on Thursday, July 18 to not only bring some of the world’s greatest racers to Barre, Vermont, but also to celebrate the strength and resilience of the people of Vermont.

While the 2024 driver line-up has yet to be announced, the SRX Series has continued to sign on some of the world’s top racing talent. While ‘Rocket Man’ Ryan Newman earned the 2023 series title, he had his hands full all season long. Fellow NASCAR legends Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, and Bobby Labonte kept their old oval-track rival in check while Indy Car drivers like Marco Andretti, Indianapolis 500 winners Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan, and a sprinkling of other top dirt track, and even drag racing pilots made the season interesting.

The superstars will make the trek to Barre for their exciting debut on the iconic Thunder Road highbanks while also celebrating ‘Vermont Strong’, the resilient efforts by Vermonters to overcome anything thrown their way. “Our offices in Barre have been back online and it’s been a welcome sight to see so much of our downtown bounce-back from the flooding, as well as the rebuilding that continues in our surrounding communities,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “To have SRX come back to close this chapter in a positive way while showcasing Thunder Road, the State of Vermont, and the strength of Vermonters to the world, it’s pretty exciting.”

As an added bonus, the 2024 Thunder Road Season Passes will include access to the SRX Event on July 18 along with all other stock car events at the Barre oval in the upcoming year!

SRX Tickets will be available starting on Monday, November 27 either online on the Thunder Road website or in-person at the Barre, Vermont office. Adult General Admission is set at $45 with Child Tickets for those ages 12 and under are available for $20.

The rest of the 2024 Thunder Road schedule of events is now finalized with the addition of SRX on July 18 and will be released on Wednesday. Season Passes will also go on sale on Monday, November 27, and will be available on the Thunder Road website. Likewise, all 2024 Rule Books and license information has been posted online for teams as we prepare for the 2024 season.
