All-Tech Rookie: Bobby Hackel Eyes First ‘Sunshine Swing’ Appearance Feb. 6-10

LAKE CITY, FL – All-Tech rookie.

For the first time in his career, Bobby Hackel is headed south to race with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco in the state of Florida.

Hackel and the STSS contingent will take part in the fifth annual ‘Sunshine Swing’ presented by Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., Feb. 6-10.

Hackel has supported the STSS North Region over the last few years and will now join the tour in the state of Florida.

“I’m really excited to head to Florida,” Hackel exclaimed. “I’ve never been down there to race with the Modifieds.

“Every I year I watch, and it gives me the itch to be down there and racing.”

Hackel’s life changed quite a bit in 2023, with a career change and a move from PMC Race Cars to a Bicknell chassis, which catapulted him to win at Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway late last season.

“With my new job (at Killer Crate), and the goals I have in racing, everything is perfect to head there and kick off 2024,” he offered.

While it will be Hackel’s first ‘Sunshine Swing’ with the STSS, the East Greenbush, N.Y., native is no stranger to Victory Lane in Florida.

He was a winner in 2019 across town from All-Tech at North Florida Speedway in the Crate 602 Sportsman division. Hackel has no intention of that being his only Sunshine State win.

“My goal is to try to win at least one night,” he proclaimed. “I have a lot of good people helping me out, including Andrew Buff (of JAM Performance) who does my shocks to help me get the car dialed in.

“I don’t think there’s any reason we can’t go get 2024 started off the right way,” he concluded.

Hackel will head south with a 420 cubic inch Pro Power under the hood of his Bicknell chassis that he took to Victory Lane at Fonda last year.

“I’ve watched every year and talked to some people about All-Tech,” he explained. “I think the 420 is the right combination of power and under control to be successful there.”

The ‘Sunshine Swing’ will just be the beginning of what Hackel hopes to be a busy year of racing with the STSS in ’24.

“We are 100% in on the North Region and my goal is to run the entire (NJ Quality Drywall) South Region also,” he said. “If we get into the season and something has to give, it will be the South Region.

“I’m starting the season though with the intention of doing it all.”
