Cheers to Year No. 5: Record $135,945 Payout Set for Feb. 6-10 ‘Sunshine Swing’

LAKE CITY, FL – Cheers to year No. 5.

The ‘Sunshine Swing’ presented by Capitol Custom Trailers & Coaches celebrates its fifth anniversary for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco in 2024 at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., Feb. 6-10.

Four consecutive nights of racing (Wednesday-Saturday) follow a Tuesday Open Practice at the Wendell Durrance-promoted facility featuring both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.

$135,945 in purse money has been posted by event organizer BD Motorsports Media LLC for the annual STSS season kick-off in the Sunshine State, a new record prior to special awards and bonuses.

“Five years of racing for the series in Florida have gone so fast,” STSS founder Brett Deyo said. “Our race teams look forward to competing at All-Tech every year. Wendell (Durrance) and his staff provide a first-class facility for us every February.”

Following Tuesday night’s (Feb. 6) test-and-tune session, racing begins Wednesday (Feb. 7) with a 30-lap, $5,000-to-win STSS Modified event and 25-lap, $1,500-to-win STSS Crate 602 Sportsman program.

Thursday night (Feb. 8) features a 35-lap, $6,000-to-win STSS Modified main and a $1,500-to-win, 25-lap Crate 602 Sportsman event.

On Friday (Feb. 9), the ante goes up. STSS Modifieds compete for $8,000 to win in a 40-lap main and the ‘Shirley Shootout’ provides a lucrative STSS Crate 602 Sportsman payout in memory of Shirley Zacharias, the late matriarch of the racing Zacharias family. The 30-lap STSS Crate 602 Sportsman program offers $2,500 to win, $1,300 for second and $900 for third. Additionally, heat winners will receive $100 each.

The ’Sunshine Swing’ culminates on Saturday (Feb. 10) with a $10,000-to-win, 50-lap STSS Modified program and another 30-lap STSS Crate 602 Sportsman event paying the winner $2,500.

‘Sunshine Swing’ champions will be decided during Saturday’s main events.

The entire week of racing will be broadcast live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) via the annual subscription.
