Reed Miller Passes Away
Reed J. Miller
June 12, 1948 – March 4, 2024
Reed J. Miller, age 75, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday, March 4, 2024, at his residence. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Reed J. and Ruth E. Jones Miller, he came to the area in 2022 from Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
A retired public school teacher, Reed was the President of Ponce Inlet Corvette Club and Director of Vettes at ONE DAYTONA. He was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Syracuse Orange, and all things auto racing. He was a promoter at Penn Can Speedway in Pennsylvania for 18 years and enjoyed taking photos for racing publications at other race tracks in the northeast. Reed loved working on and showing his 2023 C8 Corvette at car shows in the area. He also coached numerous sports during his teaching career. Reed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend that will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Holly; daughter, Lindsay (Craig) Melcher; granddaughters, Molly and Morgan Melcher, all of Riverside, Connecticut; sister, Linda (Jerry) Lewis, of Leesburg; aunt, Elaine Altmiller of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with the Reverend Mark Spivey, officiating.
