Devil’s Bowl Speedway to Open 58th Season with ‘Matty B’ Memorial Presented by Black Diamond Builders & 32B Storage
WEST HAVEN, V.T.— Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s 58th season will open in a big way, with the Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds going 32 laps for $3,200-to-win, in memory of “Matty B,” Matt Bilodeau.
Bilodeau was a rising star at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, who tragically passed away in the spring of 2021. He began racing in 2018. In 2019, his second season, he won two feature events on his way to a 5th place finish in the points, and he followed that up by placing 3rd in the points with one feature win in 2020.
Matt was an energetic, friendly member of the local community and the Devil’s Bowl Speedway family. Before he was a racecar driver, he sponsored Vince Quenneville, Jr.’s potent No. 78 machine with the business he co-owned, Black Diamond Builders. People’s respect and admiration for Matt became evident after his passing, when decals of his number and racecar appeared on many cars in the pits and the parking lot, dozens of which can still be seen today.
Devil’s Bowl’s season-opening race was first enhanced in 2021, offering $3,200-to-win in Bilodeau’s memory, and it was won by Demetrios Drellos. Other opening night winners since 2018 include: Josh Sunn, Bobby Hackel, Adam Pierson, Tim LaDuc, and Johnny Bruno. Approximately 30 Sunoco Sportsman Modifieds are expected to vie for the hefty, opening night prize on Saturday night, May 4th, when a new hunt begins for Devil’s Bowl Speedway Championship hardware.
