Doubleheader Weekend at Richmond, Tri-County on Tap For Sadler-Stanley Racing – YankeeRacer.com

Doubleheader Weekend at Richmond, Tri-County on Tap For Sadler-Stanley Racing

Coming off the King of the Modifieds event at South Boston Speedway last weekend, Sadler-Stanley Racing is ready to get back to the track for a doubleheader of racing this Friday and Saturday.

Friday, the team will have Bobby Labonte driving the No. 38 Pace-O-Matic machine in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Richmond Raceway.

On Saturday, the fourth race of the SMART Modified Tour season will see Luke Baldwin (7VA) and Jonathan Cash (16VA) racing at Tri-County Speedway to continue their chase for the series championship.

Friday’s NASCAR race at Richmond will be the second start of the season for Labonte with Sadler-Stanley Racing. In his first – the second SMART race of the season at Caraway Speedway on March 10 – Labonte finished third. Last year at Richmond, Labonte qualified eighth and brought home the Pace-O-Matic machine in sixth-place. It was the first of two top-10 finishes in his three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts for the team last year.

Baldwin is coming off his first career Tour-Type Modified win at South Boston, and it came in a crown jewel event. Baldwin bested the field to win the King of the Modifieds 125 and collect a smooth $20,000 along with it. He’s heading for Tri-County looking to make it back-to-back, after now posting top-seven finishes in all three SMART Modified Tour races to open the season.

After a tough result in the first two events, team driver Jonathan Cash also put together a stout run at South Boston, finishing fourth. At his home track, Cash used his experience to be there at the end and come away with his first top-five of the season. He will be heading to Tri-County looking to keep the momentum rolling towards his first career SMART win.

Fans looking to watch the action can see both the Richmond and Tri-County races on FloRacing.TV. Friday’s event at Richmond is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday’s racing at Tri-County will go green at 4 p.m. Fans can also follow SS Racing on Facebook for updates from the track on both days.
