Stephen Potter Passes Away

Stephen L. Potter
February 4, 1953 – June 11, 2024

Stephen L. Potter, 71, of Sherwood Avenue, Warwick, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Joyce M. (Seleyman) Potter.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Lester and Barbara (Saunders) Potter.

Steve was a quiet and patient man with a huge smile that was contagious! Steve was a generous soul and always the first person to help anyone in need.

He loved what he loved with his whole heart, especially his best friend and soulmate Joyce, his boys Stephen and Tim, and being the dad who stepped up for Deborah! He also loved his sister Charlotte, who was his “rock”, his dog Odie, everyone in his family, and his many, many friends.

He loved race cars and his favorite TV shows were Blue Bloods and Gunsmoke.

Steve was a very simple man. He liked dressing up but would’ve rather been in a T-shirt and jeans. So, in Steve’s honor, please dress casually when coming to visitation to pay your respects. He would appreciate that gesture!

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Potter, and Timothy Potter, both of Warwick; a daughter, Deborah Crowley of Warwick; two stepchildren, Sharon Bellucci, and Brian Crowley; a brother, Douglas Potter and his wife Linda of Seekonk; a sister, Charlotte Sankey and her husband Paul of New Hampshire; 3 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Jeremy Rougier and brother of the late Lester E. Potter, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI. At the family’s request, a private committal will take place in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery, Warwick.
