Close Division Title Battles Continue as South Boston Speedway Kicks Off Second Half of its 2024 Schedule Saturday July 13

SOUTH BOSTON, VA……..With the exciting first half of South Boston Speedway’s 2024 season schedule in the rearview mirror, fans can expect even more excitement as championship chases in all four of the track’s NASCAR-sanctioned racing divisions remain close heading into the Boone Tractor Race Night presented by Billy’s A/C Service event on Saturday night, July 13 at South Boston Speedway.

Two of the division point standings have a three-point separation between the leader and second-place driver. There is a 10-point margin in one division and a 16-point gap in another.\

Twin 65-lap races for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division, twin 30-lap races for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division, a 25-lap race for the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division, and a 20-lap race for the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division that will comprise the six-race event provide opportunity for movement in the four division championship standings and a potential for shake-up in three of the divisions.

The biggest gap between the leader and the second-place driver is found in the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division where two-time former NASCAR national champion Peyton Sellers of Danville, Virginia leads Blake Stallings of Danville, Virginia by 16 points. Mike Looney of Catawba, Virginia is third and is 28 points out of the lead. Jacob Borst of Elon, North Carolina (33 points down) and Stacy Puryear of South Boston, Virginia (40 points down), round out the top five in the current standings.

Defending division champion Jason Myers of Hurt, Virginia holds a narrow three-point lead over Eric Winslow of Pelham, North Carolina. Trailing just three points behind Winslow and only six points out of the lead is Nathan Crews of Long Island, Virginia who has won the last three races in a row in the division.

A new points leader has emerged in the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division as 16-year-old Jordaine Penick of Meherrin, Virginia took over the top spot following the June 29 race. Penick leads the division standings by a three-point margin over teammate, 15-year-old Max Sangillo of Farmville, Virginia. Landon Milam of Keeling, Virginia is in third place 13 points out, Cameron Moss of Danville, Virginia and Daniel Byrd of Midlothian, Virginia are tied for fourth place 17 points out of the lead.
