Milton CAT Set to Support the Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown at Thunder Road

Barre, VT — Following Monday’s exciting announcement from the American-Canadian Tour, Thunder Road officials are also proud to announce that Milton CAT has joined in to present the Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown at the Nation’s Site of Excitement for the foreseeable future! With the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on May 26, the Vermont Lottery Governor’s Cup 150 on July 17 and the WDEV Radio Vermont 100 on July 31 making up the 2025 schedule, the Squier Cup presented by Milton CAT is set to make a big return for year number two on the Barre highbanks!

The Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown was created in the spring of 2024 following the passing of Thunder Road patriarch Ken Squier in the fall of 2023. In the first season of high stakes competition, the Squier Cup provided the Maplefields/Irving Late Models an extra point fund and bragging rights to compete for while giving the fans added entertainment with each extra-distance showdown!

Milton, Vermont’s Scott Dragon earned the inaugural Squier Cup with his fourth Vermont Governor’s Cup victory last summer. The second-generation driver will be the first to have his name etched in Thunder Road’s newest granite monument, commemorating Squier’s commitment to stock car racing here in Vermont and across the globe.

“With all that he has meant to racing locally and beyond, it’s a privilege to share our name alongside Ken Squier’s” said Milton CAT Director of Marketing Dean Swartz. “We look forward to supporting Thunder Road to make this Triple Crown Series a success for years to come.”

“Along with the great partnership that White Mountain Motorsports Park and the American-Canadian Tour already have with Milton CAT, we’re excited to have them join the Thunder Road family too,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “The Squier Cup had a great inaugural season last year and with the backing of Milton CAT, it’s only going to grow!”

The Squier Cup presented by Milton CAT begins in earnest on Sunday, May 26 with the 62nd Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic! The winner of the 125-lap affair will see their name etched in Barre granite before fighting on in the Squier Cup presented by Milton CAT at the Vermont Lottery Governor’s Cup on July 17 and once again in the WDEV Radio Vermont 100 on July 31!

The 2025 season officially kicks off on May 4 with the 27th annual Community Bank, n.a. 150 for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour and the start of track championship action for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and the non-point Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors!
