SCoNE Tour Adds Devil’s Bowl Event for August Doubleheader
Airborne-Devil’s Bowl Weekend now set for August 9-10
BRIDPORT, Vermont (March 4, 2025) – The McGee Automotive Family Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) Tour has made an exciting addition to its 2025 schedule. An anticipated date has been officially tacked onto the calendar, as Devil’s Bowl Speedway will host the “winged, wild, and wicked fast” warriors in West Haven, VT on Sunday, August 10.
That date now bookends a two-track, weekend twin bill with sister facility Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY, on Saturday, August 9. The Airborne-Devil’s Bowl doubleheader will mark the first time since May 2023 that the McGee SCoNE Tour will run at different tracks on the same weekend.
“Doubleheaders are exciting because it feels a bit like the circus, where we haul into one town, put on a show, pack up, and head down the road to the next one – except the lions in our circus roar a lot louder,” SCoNE president Justin St. Louis said. “Airborne and Devil’s Bowl are the fastest tracks we visit, and we usually draw a fair number of outside invaders at both places, so it will be interesting to see who shows up, who steps up, and can get it done.”
The two speedways are located 85 miles apart at opposite ends of Lake Champlain, separated by an easy, scenic, north-to-south drive that takes just under one hour and 45 minutes, or a quick detour for a ferry ride across the water. Both facilities offer on-site camping and are near other family-friendly attractions; Mike and Alayne Bruno are the promoters at both tracks.
The added race gives Devil’s Bowl three SCoNE Tour dates for the 2025 season; the half-mile track also hosts SCoNE on Saturday, May 10 and Saturday, July 12. SCoNE driver Matt Tanner set Devil’s Bowl’s all-time single-lap speed record in May 2024 at an average of 123.321 miles per hour. Airborne Park has two events in 2025 including the SCoNE season opener on Saturday, April 19.
“As someone who loved the doubleheaders in my racing days, those weekends are nice because you really only have to travel once and you get two paychecks for racing twice,” SCoNE Director of Competition Dan Douville said. “Plus, if you can win both shows, you get some big-time bragging rights – especially at those two fast tracks.”
