A Three-Man Race for Maplefield Late Model Rookie of the Year at Thunder Road

Barre, VT – With registrations pouring into the American-Canadian Tour office in Barre, so too came three exciting Rookie Registrations from three distinct drivers set to take on the Maplefield/Irving Late Models at Thunder Road International Speedbowl for the first time in 2025. The ‘Thunder and Lightning’ division of Barre’s Thunder Road will see three familiar faces in three new rides this summer between two former Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger champions and a top ace in the rk Miles Street Stocks!

It was already announced in January that defending Flying Tiger champion Brandon Gray had set his sights on a massive schedule in his debut season behind the wheel of an ACT Late Model. After smashing records last season and taking every Flying Tiger championship awarded last summer, Gray will take on the Maplefield/Irving Late Models at Thunder Road, the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models at White Mountain Motorsports Park and a select number of Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour appearances as well!

Just in the last week, two more Rookie contenders have filed their registrations. 2023 champion and ten-time Flying Tiger feature winner Kyle Streeter is moving up to the big leagues this season, taking over the driving duties of the Ashley Squier and Robbie Crouch-owned #48K at Thunder Road this season. The Waterbury combination of Streeter, Squier and Crouch are no strangers to Thunder Road and the group tested the waters late last season with a pair of Late Model appearances at White Mountain while also attempting to qualify for the 62nd Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank.

Rounding out the freshman starters is Milton’s Trevor Jaques. Jaques is a multi-year rk Miles Street Stock standout who took the Street Stock rookie title in 2021 before coming home third overall in 2023 and runner-up last season. Along with the 2023 Street Stock Mini Milk Bowl win, Jaques has racked up eight career wins, including five just last season alone! As with Streeter, Jaques also attempted to qualify for last year’s Vermont Milk Bowl in his first foray behind the Late Model wheel.

“After last year’s great battle to the end between Jesse (Laquerre) and Taylor (Hoar), there were some big shoes to fill,” said Thunder Road general manager Cale King. “To now have three rookies, especially these three guys with plenty of experience on the highbanks, it’s going to make for a good show each week!”

The season kicks off with the annual Car Show and Practice Day at Thunder Road on Saturday, May 3. The following day, May 4, brings the 27th annual Community Bank, n.a. 150 for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour and the start of track championship racing for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and the non-point Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors!
