Over $25,000 Up for Grabs in Stafford’s 7th Annual CARQUEST SK 150
Stafford Springs, CT — The 7th annual CARQUEST SK 150, which has been rescheduled for Friday, July 30th at Stafford Motor Speedway, will feature a purse of $24,750. Contingency money brings the total posted awards for the CARQUEST SK 150 to over $25,000, making the event one of the most lucrative races anywhere in the northeast for the 2010 season. The winner of the 7th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 has the potential of walking away with $4,000.
The winner’s share of the purse is $3,500 with $500 in first place contingency money available from CARQUEST Auto Parts, The Davidson Company in memory of Dave Rowe, and Valvoline. Additional contingency bonuses of $125 for second place will be paid by Call Before You Dig, and New England Race Fuel will supply a $50 product bonus to the third place finisher and a $25 product bonus to the top-3 finishing cars using the Stafford Speedway SK Modified® Spec Engine, bringing the total posted awards for the 7th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 up to $25,500. Drivers must have contingency decals from each contingency sponsor on their cars to receive the contingency bonus and drivers must use Sunoco Race Fuel in order to receive the New England Race Fuel product bonuses.
The CARQUEST SK 150 will start 30 cars. The 7th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 pays $300 to start the race, while 10th place will pay $1,000. The purse increases by $100 for each position from 9th place to 3rd place, while second place pays $2,200. The payout for 11th place is $900, and from positions 12 through 16, the purse decreases by $100 per position. The 17th position pays $375, and the remainder of the starting positions decreases by $25 per position to 20th place, with all drivers finishing 20th thru 30th receiving $300.
In 6 previous CARQUEST SK 150 events at Stafford, there have been four different race winners: Ted Christopher (2000, 2001), Ronnie Silk (2002), Frank Ruocco (2003, 2009), and Woody Pitkat (2008). Ruocco has been the dominant driver of late when it comes to the CARQUEST SK 150, with two wins and a second place finish in the past three 150-lap events. The CARQUEST SK 150 has also produced two first-time SK Modified® feature winners at Stafford with Silk’s victory in 2002 and Ruocco’s win in 2003. Along with the four CARQUEST SK 150 champions, other Stafford SK Modified® extra distance feature winners that will be in the starting field include Eric Berndt, Bo Gunning, and Todd Owen.
Tickets for the 7th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 are on sale now at the Speedway Box Office. Tickets are priced at $20.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $23.00 for all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with overnight parking available.
