Seekonk Speedway 2021 Road Trip Begins with Street Stocks Thursday at Lanier

The Seekonk Speedway 2021 iRacing virtual Road Trip Tour presented by Souza Media takes the green flag on Thursday night, January 7, with the running of the Peach Pit Classic 75 at Lanier National Speedway. The event, which will be run in the Street Stocks, will be sponsored by Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment, located in Westport, Massachusetts. They can provide you with the latest and greatest in outdoor power products to make your outdoor living more enjoyable. Visit them on the web at southcoastpowerequipment.com.

Through a new partnership between Seekonk Speedway and Extreme Sim TV, fans will be able to watch some of Seekonk’s top stars compete virtually for free, live on Facebook, through the Extreme Sim TV page. The feed will be shared to the Seekonk Speedway Facebook page once the green flag drops on Thursday around 7:40 p.m. The broadcast will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the voice of Seekonk, Kevin Boucher, in the booth to call the action.

The Street Stock action at Lanier — a track somewhat similar to Seekonk — is expected to be hot and heavy. It’s the first of six races in the Road Trip Tour, one that will crown a champion and distribute more than $2,000 in prizes over the course of six races. Ryan Kuhn, who is coming off the championship in the inaugural season of Seekonk virtual racing in 2020, is the favorite to score the victory and begin his title defense Thursday night. But there is a large group of drivers coming in right on his tail.

Former Seekonk Sports Truck champion Richie Murray, former Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero champion Reese Bogue and real-life Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars competitors Reagan Parent and Mason Tessier lead the list of challengers. They are joined by Derek Gluchacki, multiple-time iRacing winner Thomas Axsom, Austin Flanagan, Sam Lincoln, Brad Sousa, Nick Wood, Darryl Church, Ben Amado, and more. In order to be eligible for the season-ending point fund in 2021, a driver must compete in four of the six race events on the schedule. Additional entries are also expected.

Similar to 2020, drivers will be chasing $75 to score each feature winner, along with additional funds to the remaining of the top-five finishers. A race sponsorship is set at $300 — including $200 going towards the top-five in each event — and $100 going towards the season-ending point fund. On top of the race awards and point fund, each event will have a large selection of contingency awards on the line. Additional sponsors of the Road Trip Tour for 2021 include Richie’s Insulation, Watermark Electric, and Barrington Automotive. For a full list of contingency awards planned, see below:
Watermark Homerun Heats: Each heat race winner will earn $4 courtesy of Watermark Electric
“Hard Luck” Award Courtesy of Atlantic Yacht Rigging: $20 to the hard-luck driver by Mike Floyd & Atlantic Yacht Rigging
Anchor Halfway Bonus: Anchor Paws Rescue will provide $20 to the driver that leads the halfway lap at each championship event

TRD Least Incident Points: One Free Paint Scheme To the Driver That Scores The Least Amount of Incident Points Per Event
Helger’s Southcoast Power Move Of the Race Award: $20 to the driver that improves the most positions in the feature
Bernier’s Liquors Lucky Spot: $25 to a random driver who finishes between 8th and 16th in each Seekonk iRacing event
Lucas Milhaupt Fourth-Place: Lucas Milhaupt will sponsor the fourth-place driver at lap 44 with a $4.44 award at each event
Following Thursday night, additional races on the Road Trip Tour will take place through the month of April. The series visits New Hampshire Motor Speedway with the Tour Modified on January 28, followed by a stop at Five Flags Speedway in Florida with the ARCA Menards Series car on February 25th. On Thursday, March 11, Seekonk Speedway’s virtual teams return to the abandoned Myrtle Beach Speedway with the Super Late Model, while Langley Speedway hosts a Legends Cars special on March 25. The champion will be crowned at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on April 22 with the Late Model division.
