Bobby Webber Racing Heading to Florida for Speedweeks Debut
EPPING, N.H. — The Bobby Webber Racing team is heading south to New Smyrna Speedway. The team will make their debut at the famed World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway, driving in the Sportsman division. BWR will purchase a new car from Boyd Technologies to use for competition — with assistance from Boyd at the track planned throughout the week to make sure the car is up to speed.
A practice session is set for Thursday, February 4, while the Sportsman division is set to compete on the first two of nine nights — Friday, February 5, and Saturday, February 6. The Sportsman event on Friday will be 35 laps, while Saturday will be a 50 lap special. Each of the nine nights will air live to race fans across the country as part of NBC Sports Gold TrackPass platform, which is just $2.99 per month.
“Going to Florida — I can sum it up in three words — stress, nerves and excitement,” team owner Bobby Webber said. “It’s something I have dreamed of for years, getting my own team on the track at New Smyrna Speedway. I have experienced the highs and lows of New Smyrna when I traveled yearly with Lou Mechalides for over 10 years — now, it’s time to put the Bobby Webber Racing name on the map in Florida.”
Kruczek, a multiple-time American Canadian Tour and Pro All Star Series winner , is set to take his first laps at the high-banked Florida oval. Kruczek has over 20 feature wins at Lee USA Speedway in the Late Model division.
“First of all, I’m excited just to be able to race this time of year, as I’m usually plowing snow or pulling wrecked cars out of the ditch through February,” Kruczek said. “Having the opportunity to head south, knowing we have a car that Boyd Technologies has been preparing for us, it gives me confidence that we will unload with a solid car. That has my entire team pumped up.”
Although he doesn’t have laps on the track, Kruczek is familiar with the look of the track, and his experience in New England might give him an upper hand as he looks to adapt.
“I got to see New Smyrna when we visited for Speedweeks previously, so I have a decent idea of how it might race,” Kruczek said. “Running tracks like Thompson (Speedway), New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Richmond Raceway… I think I will be able to acclimate fast. I’ve been spending a lot of time on iRacing over the last month practicing… I’m excited to get some real laps in.”
Boyd Technologies has proven success at New Smyrna, and the entire Bobby Webber Racing team is excited to work with the group.
“The stress level is definitely building this week as we try to remember everything we need to pack,” Webber said. “Stress that I put on myself for expecting too much. At the same time, I’m excited to debut a brand new Boyd car that should be fast right out of the box.”
Without the support of countless sponsors, the trip south wouldn’t be possible. Associate major sponsors include Advanced Gas Distributors, Hawthorne Automotive, ASI Racewear, Body’s by Kevin, Hedges Excavating and Vynorius Piledriving. There are endless friends of the Webber Racing team that are also involved, including Fast Track Concessions, Black Flagged Podcast, RAW Motorsports, Mainely Awards, Velocita, Red Cup Racing, Capitol Renegade, Kruczek’s Garage, LCM Motorsports, Eleveight Design, Embroidery Expertees, KDW Landscaping and Property Services, the Hebbelinck Family, N.E. Race Fuels and K Cobb Botanicals. There are also others that have supported the team over the years.
“I can’t thank all of our supporters enough,” Kruczek said. “It’s truly overwhelming how fast, and how many of our current and new sponsors reached out to us to support our trip south. I’m heading down there to give 100% — and hopefully bring home some trophies to showcase their efforts. If anyone has met Bobby Webber, they know winning is the only option. He gives me the equipment I need and direct orders to hand him the checkered flag. We have a great team, a great car, and great sponsors.”
Webber certainly is planning to win as part of the trip of over 1,200 miles.
“I’m excited to be in warm weather and be able to enjoy and continue to grow the team that my Dad helped me get off the ground,” Webber said. “It’s exciting, but the best feeling will be when we roll into New Smyrna Speedway and hit the track.”
