Rain Postpones Chatham Speedway STSS Cajun Region Opener to April 3

CHATHAM, LA – After a week of heavy precipitation in the Bayou State – and a significant percent of rainfall in the Saturday forecast – Chatham Speedway promoter Jerry Hobson has postponed the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco ‘Cajun Region’ opener by seven days to Saturday, April 3.

The entire program will move in its entirety back one week.

“With teams coming long distances to be part of this event and more than 60-percent chance of rain, we have decided to postpone until April 3,” Hobson said.

The first points-paying race for the STSS ‘Cajun Region’ Modifieds will wait until Saturday, April 3.

Modifieds will race for a $1,000 winner’s share plus an additional $75 for the highest-finishing car with an APE Engines sticker. $200 will be reserved to take the green flag.

Shed Road Auto Parts of Bossier City, La., has signed on to present a $100 cash Hard Charger Award to the driver advancing the most positions from the start of the main event to the finish.

On April 3, pit gates open at 3 p.m.  Hot laps begin at 6 p.m., with racing at 7 p.m.

Pit admission is $35. Transponders are required for STSS Modifieds and rentals are available for $10.

Grandstand admission is $15. Kids 10 and under are FREE.

A reminder to race teams: if you have not filed a membership for the 2021, season it can be turned in at Chatham. The link follows: http://shorttracksuperseriescajun.com/?page_id=72
