Teams, Fans Getting Ready for Another Big Season at White Mountain
New Events, Growing Rosters, and New Sponsors on Tap for 2021
N. Woodstock, NH —The mountains of the New Hampshire North Country are getting ready to roar as the 2021 racing season nears for N. Woodstock’s White Mountain Motorsports Park. The season opener on Saturday, May 8 kicks off a planned 22-event schedule that makes the quarter-mile oval a gathering ground for Northeast motorsports fans.
Following a 2020 season that saw a little bit — and sometimes a lot — of everything at White Mountain, the trend continues this year. Multiple visits are in the cards for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Pro All Stars Series (PASS), North East Mini Stock Tour, and GoMotorsportsShop.com NELCAR Legends Tour. This includes the return of the ACT Fall Foliage 200 on September 26. The PASS 150 on July 17, meanwhile, will be part of the PASS National Championship for the first time.
The R&R Race Parts Street Stock Open and Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association join the fun with late-season showdowns. At year’s end, the Monster Truck Throwdown event that was planned for 2020 finally debuts.
Sponsors are continuing to climb on board as they see the track’s profile expand. Sanel NAPA has signed for the Late Model Spring Board 100 on Memorial Day weekend while C&S NAPA of Littleton/Whitefield is presenting the Mid-Season Championships. Billboards continue to sprout up around the track as companies see the value of motorsports.
The heart and soul of the season, though, will be the five local racing divisions. With just over three weeks until Opening Day, interest keeps on growing for the Late Model, Flying Tigers, Strictly Stock Minis, Dwarf Cars, and Kid’s Trucks.
For the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, they’re looking at a second straight season of rising numbers. Stacy Cahoon and Quinny Welch, who swept nearly all the championships over the past decade, are back to duke it out again. They’re joined by venerable Late Model racers Oren Remick, Jeff Marshall, Matthew Morrill, and more from the 2020 class.
A large contingent of new drivers is joining them. Rookies Kasey Beattie, Laci Potter, Kevin Vaudrien, and Dennis Dumas are planning to make WMMP their 2021 racing home. So are youngster Zachary Fraser and veteran Jerry Lesage.
Cahoon, Welch, Beattie Stephen Donahue, John Donahue, and Jimmy Renfrew Jr. have all listed White Mountain as their home track in the inaugural New England Late Model Challenge Cup. As one of nine participating tracks in the region, WMMP could see even more racers showing up trying to earn valuable points.
The Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers had a big-time resurgence in 2020. That looks to continue in 2021. While a few drivers have moved up, plenty of others are coming in to replace them. This includes first-year Tiger racers Tanner Woodard, Chandler Potter, and Cooper French plus veteran Russell Clark.
They’ll join top runners from 2020 such as three-time defending champion Shane Sicard, Michael and Matt Potter, and Jody Sicard. The Flying Tiger season begins with the first leg of the J.P. Sicard Inc. Triple Crown Series, which draws top Thunder Road runners like Jason Woodard and Colin Cornell to chase the big money.
After holding steady in 2020, the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Back Strictly Stock Minis are bouncing back in 2021. A division that had no registered rookies last year already has six this year, including Chris Moulton, Riley Taylor, Jason Potter, and Donnie Baumgardner. They’ll be chasing defending champion Brett Jackson, Adam Sicard, Tyler Thompson, and other frequent visitors to Victory Lane.
The Dwarf Cars put up a great 2020 season and have a 10-race schedule this year. Multiple new names are joining “Downtown” Bobby Brown, Tommy Smithers, Dave Gyger, and other familiar drivers who have already registered.
The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply will see some turnover as new youngsters replace those who are graduating to the adult divisions. Hayley Corum, Makayla Savage, and Austin Sicard join Thomas Smithers VI, Damion Sicard, and more for a 15-race schedule.
White Mountain Motorsports Park opens the 2021 season on Saturday, May 8 at 6:00pm. The Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers go 75 laps in round one of the J.P. Sicard Inc. Triple Crown Series. A full card of racing is also scheduled for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, Dwarf Cars, and Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Trucks.
Admission is just $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). All New Hampshire health and safety guidelines will be in effect.
