Monster Trucks to Star in Back to School Spectacular Wednesday Night August 25th at Riverhead Raceway
Riverhead, NY Aug. 19th — As the days of summer start to wind down and the chimes of the school bell draw closer and closer Riverhead Raceway has planned a special midweek Back To School Monster Truck spectacular this Wednesday, August 25th sending the kids back to school with some exciting memories. Four giant Monster Trucks out of the KSR Motorsports stables will compete in free style competition Wednesday evening joined by five divisions of stock car racing who’ll provide their own wall-to-wall entertainment prior to the car-crushing Monster Trucks.
Jack Brady of KSR Motorsports in conjunction with Riverhead Raceway GM John Ellwood announced the line-up of trucks that will thrill young and old alike Wednesday night. Hurricane Force, Killer Bee, Storm Damage, and Zombie Sniper will compete and perform slap wheelies, cyclones, and of course crushing cars flatter than a dime right before your eyes. The fully blown, alcohol-burning 1500 horsepower trucks will be getting plenty of air underneath them as they navigate the confines of the Riverhead quarter-mile oval. Additionally, KSR Motorsports will be bringing along a ride truck for fans to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime thrill taking a ride through the track property for a nominal fee. The ride truck has seat installed in the back bed and has been a popular part of Monster Truck events over the years at Riverhead along with the KSR Motorsports merchandise trailer that will also be making the trip with fans able buy back to school wearing apparel.
The Blunderbusts will compete in a 20-lap feature event with Cody Triola of Bay Shore leading veteran Tom Sullivan of Massapequa in the championship chase by 30 points entering the midweek special. Brandon Hubbard of Mastic, Alyssa Paprocky of Rocky point and Eddie Diaz of Centereach are third through fifth in the standings coming to the 20-lapper. INEX Legend Race Car championship leader George Tomko Jr. of Aquebogue leads defending champion Kevin Nowak of Medford by a comfortable 47-markers entering Wednesday racing with Anthony Marsh of Riverhead, Allan Pedersen of Center Moriches, and Eric Hersey of Ronkonkoma third through fifth.
For the 8 through 14-year-olds who make up the newly formed INEX Bandolero division the chance to race with the Back To School Monster Truck event is arguably their biggest event of the year. As has been the case since the second race of their freshman season a Group A and Group B feature will be contested in 15-lap distances. Darren Krantz Jr. of Huntington on the strength of three Group A wins this season is the championship leader by 16 over two-time winner Chevy Rommeney of Bohemia. Rodney Dowless Jr. of Dix Hills, Reid Halpin of Wading River, and Tucker Bock of East Hampton are third through fifth.
