Bushey, Gilcris Battle Side by Side for Main Event Win at Groveton’s Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park
Rowdy Brad Bushey and Nic Gilcris never gave up, Gilcris waged a torrid battle for the win in the Scotty Fraziers 2 To Go Show Flying Tiger class Saturday night. Bushey led early on in the event until Gilcris got underneath the #52 to take the lead but Bushey came back on the low side and the race was on. Side by side they went swapping the lead back and forth until on lap 22 as the cars went down the backstretch, the #2 of Gilcris got sideways then took a hard right and with no time to correct. The Elliot Masonry Buick of Gilcris drilled the turn three wall drivers side first. Rescue crews had to pull the car away from the wall so Nic could get out. Luckily Gilcris was okay and hopefully, the car can be repaired. When racing resumed, Bushey took the win, with the #34 of Jacob Vaughn second, and Jerrad Ledger in the #47 finishing third.
The Claudette and Deans Place DareDevils put on a great show as the rookies and veterans ran together. Revin Evan Gilbert led early but on lap 15 last week’s winner Cassi Leonard got by Gilbert for the lead and with two laps to go Mekaylah Bowen got by as well for the second spot. Cassi Leonard picked up the win in the #97 with Bowen in second and Evan Gilbert brought the #28 home in third.
The White Mountains Community College 6&8 Bone stocks ran 20 laps nonstop with the #83 of Mike Sherburne getting the win with Jason Ball in second and the #55 of Cody Burns coming in third. The White Mountains Community College 4 cylinder Bone Stocks came to the green flag 21 strong and had a heck of a race. After three cautions the #34 of Ryan Heuser picked up win number three on the season with Derby Vermont’s Marty Barrup bringing the #99 across the line for second and Chris Foster picking up third.
In the Lil Rascals Dwarf class, one caution slowed the event when the #21 of Brenna Humphrey bounced off the front stretch wall. Justin Harris got his second win of the season in the #29 with Tom Harwood finishing second and Justin Stacey picking up third. In the E Keys 4 Cars Formula Fours, Chris Caron got the lead early and didn’t look back to pick up the win, Jacob Roy wheeled his Ford Mustang #11 across the line for second and MeKaylah Bowen brought the Bowens unlimited #12 in for a third-place finish. Don’t forget this Saturday night the Late Models will be in action and also fireworks for the July 4th holiday weekend. Racing starts at 6 P.M. Hope to see you there.
